¡Hola y bienvenidos! I am Eliza - a Romanian traveler, teacher and Mexican history enthusiast. I lived in Mexico City on and off from 2011 to 2019, and from the day I moved there as an EFL teacher, I knew Mexico was not going to be just another country I was passing through. I had traveled and lived abroad before, but it was the first time a foreign country felt so inexplicably familiar and I could say it took almost no effort to adapt. Many years later, I still call Mexico 'my second home' and I am still learning about it with an ever-growing enthusiasm.

This blog was born out of my curiosity and passion for sharing what I've learned about this amazing country with those around me. It is also my goal to explore Mexico's 132 pueblos mágicos (magical towns) in addition to many other destinations, so the blog will keep growing.

I am inviting you to browse through the itineraries and culture nuggets that I've put together, hoping that you will find them inspiring and useful when you embark on your own adventure. There were so many things I wish I had known when I moved to Mexico City, so my goal was to create a blog that is easy to read, with useful information and ready-made itineraries that will equip the traveler / tourist with basic knowledge, answer questions, and why not, bust some common myths. The information is out there, of course, but it is not always easy to do your own research and find what you are looking for, especially if you are not familiar with Mexican culture.

I wish you a wonderful trip and the best of adventures no matter where you are traveling to in Mexico! ¡Un abrazo! 🤗

P.S. Keep scrolling to see a list of books and websites I recommend to anyone who wants to learn more about Mexico from reliable sources 📚

My sources 👇

I only write about those boroughs of Mexico City and towns that I have already visited. My itineraries and articles have been carefully checked and are periodically edited so the information is always up to date.

Apart from my direct experience, I use reliable books and websites when I create my content because I always start with a historical / cultural context when I recommend visiting a place. I believe learning a little bit about Mexico before going there will make your traveling experience richer and all the more worthwhile.
